Mosaic Citations for Word FAQ

Getting started

First, add the Mosaic Citations add-in to Word. Then open a document, go to the Home tab, and click “Cite with Mosaic” to open the Mosaic panel, and sign in with your Mosaic account.

Signing in

Use “Sign in with email & password” with your Mosaic credentials. If you are already signed in to Mosaic in your browser, “Use my Mosaic session” can sign you in automatically.

Finding and inserting a citation

Select a sentence or claim in your document (or type one into the panel), click “Find sources”, choose a verified source, pick a citation style (author–year, numbered, or footnote), and click Insert. You can also insert or copy a bibliography of the sources you have used.

Troubleshooting

  • If the panel looks blank, close and reopen it from the Home tab, or reload the document.
  • If sign-in does not complete, use the email and password option.
  • Insertion works inside Microsoft Word on Windows, Mac, and the web.

Account and data

Manage your account and export your data from Settings in the Mosaic web app. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data and our Terms of Service for the terms of use.
